    27:06//Home: Mascots.
    Saturday, June 27, 2009 10:58 PM
I met up with Eriol and his gang at around noon. Then we went to find Rina and Sakurazaki at the main area, in front of Ngee Ann City. I wasn't cosplaying, so I became a sai-kang warrior for the day.

I found famliar faces along the way. I saw Knife as Mario, Alucard at Terry Bogard and Mao doing Lich King. I took the free lunch at some booth before the cosplay competition started.

"Otaku Unlimited" happened at about 3pm. I found it quite bad for 3 reasons:

    1. It's technically a cosplay competition because of the word "OTAKU", yet I see people dressed-up half-heartedly (for the lack of a better term). They look nothing like the characters, save for the cos-sers doing the game and anime characters.

    2. What's with the all-team format? I thought there was an individual competition too. Some of the cos-sers were damn pissed about the news too. They can't perform in a group because their characters are too different from each other.

    3. The organisers did mention a prize cash of up to $1000 for the winners, yet on the day itself, it became $100. Hooray.

Anyways, the group doing the anime and games cosplay won, much to nobody's surprise. I mean, Sheryl Nome did a stripshow! Plus points from the judges for that, haha.

Then while the rest were all taking photos, I sat down near the water booth, while I talked to some of the people there. Oxi was doing Francis again, I met up with Tsuki and Tohru (with her dollfie too), and I managed to talk to the genderbend Archer for the 1st time. Her costume and weapons look damn cool.

Then came my H1N1 partner, Horse. Simple calculation here: 1 Horse and 1 Neko make up H1N1. Best tag-team ever~

Later on, Spidey, Ash and Kei came along. The latter 2 were cosplaying from Lamento; they came from their morning photoshoot which I didn't go since it was too far off from my area.

Hmm, the mascot parade wasn't really too good, but there were some nice, accurate mascots there. I saw Iron Man, Kamen Rider, even a Barney dinosaur, and a Sakae Sushi mascot. More power to that. And not forgetting the countless Stormtroopers.

At night, there were the band performances. I caught a glimpse of Miavi's band playing. Nice~

And Freedom took a video of Sheryl's Henshin performance. Took 2 NGs before she got it almost perfect. The yellow wig keep falling off with the blue wig, lol.

But in all, not too bad for an event. It's just too bad the organisers have no damn clue what "Cosplay" really means. Speaking of which, I wonder if anybody spotted Raymond Yee anywhere. Was he even on-site? Hmm...
